Skinny Bitch

So--I've been trying for the past 2 years to eat better, exercise more, all that jazz.  And its been a slow process.  A friend and I joined a run club about a year ago, and while I still wouldn't call us runners, we are making slow strides in improving--and even if we don't run, we get a three mile walk in once a week.  I started working out with a personal trainer at the beginning of summer, which has been great--sadly, though, my trainer just got a new job, and I'm in the midst of transitioning to a new one, so I have a couple of weeks off.

But the hardest part is definitely the eating.  I've never been a healthy eater, and because of my job, eat out a decent amount (and unfortunately, it's fast food).  I've been addicted to Diet Coke for years, and before that it was sweet tea.  I love anything sweet, and I love barbecue--and all that goes with it.

About a month ago, I borrowed "Skinny Bitch" from a friend, and I LOVED the no-nonsense way it told you what you shouldn't eat--and why--and what you should.  I'm slowly trying to incorporate advice from the book into my lifestyle.  My first big project was becoming a vegetarian.  I'm one month into being a vegetarian, and so far, it hasn't been too tough.  Next up is switching out Diet Coke for water.  I've gotten much better--I used to start my day with it, and a fresh supply was never too far out of reach, but I've cut down to only once a day for the most part, and some days not at all--though I still do crave it often!  So that's my project for the next few weeks--completely breaking the Diet Coke addiction.
